Třicetiletý Svěrkoš si přetrhl vaz v koleni na jaře 2012 a následně rok a půl na ligových trávnících chyběl, neboť při snaze o návrat si zranění obnovil. Znovu hrát začal až letos na jaře, kdy pomohl Baník zachránit v nejvyšší soutěži, ale už po 2. kole nové sezony se problémy znovu ozvaly.
